The following works have been chosen to give readers a broad base for further reading on the subject of Celtic mythology. It does not pretend to be in any way comprehensive. The primary sources of Welsh mythology, the Mabinogi, are the White Book of Rhydderch (ca. a.d. 1300–1325) and the Red Book of Hergest (ca. a.d. 1375–1425). These are in Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru (National Library of Wales). The principal sources for the Irish myths are the Leabhar na hUidhre (Book of the Dun Cow), dating from the eleventh century, and the Leabhar Laignech (Book of Leinster), a twelfth century compilation, both of which are in the Royal Irish Academy.
